Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Schedule: Hybrid (flexible in-office/remote structure)

The Role

We are seeking an Employee Benefits Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience to advise employers on the design, compliance, and administration of employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements. This associate will play a key role in day-to-day counseling, transactional support, and regulatory compliance matters.

Core Practice Areas

* ERISA compliance and fiduciary governance
* Qualified retirement plans (401(k), pension, profit-sharing plans)
* Health and welfare plans (medical, dental, vision, disability, cafeteria plans)
* Executive compensation and incentive arrangements
* Equity compensation (stock options, RSUs, performance-based awards)
* Nonqualified deferred compensation (Section 409A)
* COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA compliance
* Employee benefits issues in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings
* Benefits considerations in reductions in force and reorganizations

Key Responsibilities

* Draft and review plan documents, SPDs, amendments, and summaries
* Advise employers on IRS and Department of Labor compliance requirements
* Assist with benefit plan audits and government inquiries
* Support corporate transactions through benefits due diligence and integration
* Counsel clients on fiduciary duties, risk management, and best practices
* Collaborate with corporate, tax, and employment teams on cross-disciplinary matters

Qualifications

* PA license
* 2-5 years of experience practicing employee benefits and executive compensation law
* Strong working knowledge of ERISA and related federal regulations
* Experience with retirement and health & welfare plans preferred
* Pennsylvania bar admission (or ability to obtain promptly)
* Excellent drafting, analytical, and client communication skills
